I’m buying an engagement ring for my girlfriend and came across your site during my research. Congrats on the site, it’s great and very unique.
I found a setting on jamesallen.com that I’ve decided on.
My budget is $4k, so with this setting, I’m looking for a diamond with a budget of $2,250. Neither my girlfriend nor I care that much about the “numbers” of the diamond. It doesn’t have to be a minimum carat weight or a minimum clarity rating. I just want a nice, eye clean, round diamond that will go well in the setting. As a diamond amateur, it’s hard for me to tell what will be eye clean. With the great diamond viewing tools on jamesallen.com it seems very easy to find flaws in all diamonds that are not IF or VVS1. Obviously this pumps up the price and I’m sure those kinds of ratings aren’t necessary to get an eye clean diamond.
If you could give me some recommendations based on your knowledge and my budget I would be very grateful.
Keep in mind that the diamond images are magnified 20x. Fortunately for you, I have a lot of experience picking out diamonds on these sites. I recommend this one for you:
It’s bright, eye-clean and a great value. What do you think?
I really liked this diamond. I ended up buying it along with the ring setting I had picked out. It was delivered on Friday and I proposed on Saturday (pictures of the ring attached).
Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it.
Looks great. Best of luck.
