Is it possible to get a good .5 – .7 carat between $800 – $1000 or do I have to up my budget more?

I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What shape diamond and what type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).

Thank you very much for your response! I’m looking for a Round Cut diamond with a 14K white gold setting. I’ve decided on a couple of settings thus far. The first is made by Gabriel & co. and is product number er8022w44jj. This setting features 22 round sidestones and milgrain texture. The second is the ArtCarved “Bernadette” style. This setting comes with no sidestones but has fine, etched detail on the band. I’ve been checking James Allen as your site suggests and have found a great selection of loose diamonds.

You are going to have to stretch your budget a bit. You should go for a nice I color diamond with those types of settings. I love this diamond for you:

The diamond is gorgeous! The price is not so far off of my budget that it wouldn’t be a contender. I wonder if you would mind sharing your expertise yet again on some of the diamonds I found on James Allen? Sku #’s 156782, 134518, 182571, 174576, and 191102. How do these compare to the one you chose and the setting.

As I said before, you should stick with I+ given that setting. JK will look too yellow compared to the accent diamonds. The G color you selected is not eye-clean.
