I’ve been shopping around for an engagement ring for some time now (my fiance has asked me to pick what I like). Unfortunately I’m very picky and don’t like rings 1) with a thin band, 2) with too raised of a center stone, 3) that are solitaire, and 4) too vintage looking.
I live in UK and my budget is about $7.5k and I’m looking for a round or princess cut diamond just shy of 1 carat (0.8 to 0.9) in platinum setting with D to G color. In terms of clarity that are GIA certified. I’m looking for any thing between VVS1 to VS2, Excellent to Very Good for polish and symmetry and None Fluorescence. I don’t know much about Depth and Table so your feedback there is much appreciated.
I have the option to ship the ring to US, Canada, UK, or Switzerland. I have searched on multiple websites (Diamonds77, BlueNile, James Allen, Cartier, and Tiffany’s). I’ve found Cartier and Tiffany’s too expensive for just the brand and the selections of settings in BlueNile an Diamonds77 too generic and simple. The only site which I’ve found a reasonable selection of settings has been James Allen. I like the designs “platinum knife-edge princess and baguette diamond engagement ring” and “platinum marquise and baguette diamond engagement ring”. However, they don’t have any images of real rings on real hands… everything is digital which obviously would look much shinier. So it’s pretty difficult to understand what the ring would look like on hand.
Do you have a recommendation for a diamond to choose?
Sounds like you are on the right path. I would not spend extra on higher clarity, though I would stick with EX cut. I love this diamond for you:
