Your site has been amazing and I was wondering if you could help me find a round cut diamond between 12k and 15K. The larger the better (I was hoping for 2 carat, but I don’t know if that will fit into my price range). That being said, I don’t want to sacrifice on diamond quality, so I’m willing to go smaller for something beautiful. Thanks so much for your help!
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Let me know and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
To make it easy, I pretty much want to get exactly this ring: http://www.tacori.com/Engagement-Rings/2616RD65 in either white gold or platinum. It’ll be solitaire, white gold/platinum, 4 prongs, side stones, but no halo.
Also, as a sidenote, I’ve been working with someone that was recommended to me. He says that he has a round cut stone that is 1.79 ct, F color, SI2 (bubbling inclusions, but he says eye-clean), very good cut, medium blue flourescence for $1480. Is this a good deal?
Thanks in advance!

I’m looking at 2 different diamonds at the moment:

One of the things that concerns me about the 2.11 is the girdle (very thin-slightly thick). The 2.11 is around $15,500 and the 1.89 is around $13,500. Which one do you think would be best? Also, I’ve decided on this setting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF11rZXLom8
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! I’d like to make the purchase in the next few days due to a proposal date I had in mind, so if you could get back to me as soon as possible, I’d appreciate it.
The girdle is not the issue, it’s the cut. I would go with the 1.89. It’s a far better value overall and will look great.
Thanks Mike, that’s what I’ve chosen to do. I appreciate your help!
Sounds good. Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
