I have been reading your diamond info to help educate myself so that i can point my partner towards the best possible diamond for him to purchase.
We like settings from either James Allen https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/18k-white-gold-thin-french-cut-pave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-item-289?a_aid=dmnd1357
or Blue Nile

Based on my research of price etc so far i think we would like around 0.75- 0.80 colourless diamond of the best clarity (IF – VS1) and cut we can get. Budget is around AUD7K including shipping and duty to Singapore.
Any expert suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you actually live in Singapore or are you doing that to save taxes? I think the difference in taxes is not that different. Check this out:
According to JA’s shipping calculator, it will cost you $7,241 Australian if you ship it to Australia. If you ship it to Singapore it will cost you $6,848 Australian.
Thank you for your email and suggestion. It does appear to be a great sized stone, however I have looked at stones and rings in various stores and found ‘I’ colour to appear quite yellow and wonder if H would be the same seeing it is in the same colour range. I was looking for something in the colourless range to avoid any yellow tinge and so figured with the budget of AUD7K (which would include duty and the actual setting) a 0.75-0.8 stone would be the largest size I could afford. Could you offer any other suggestions?
I am Australian but living in Singapore and paying in AUD.
Did you see GIA certified diamonds or less legitimate certificates?
I have looked at Brilliant Rose diamonds, which are GIA certified as far as i am aware.
I love this diamond for you:
It’s bright, eye-clean and perfectly white. Along with the setting it comes out to $5,111 Australian, including all GST and taxes (according to JA’s shipping calculator). There is no reason at all to go higher in paper quality.
