Q&A: “With the money you saved me, I was able to rent a Limo…”

Thank you for providing such a comprehensive and objective resource!

I am looking for a diamond for an engagement ring. My budget for the ring is $3500. Assuming about $750 for a setting, this leaves $2750 or so for the diamond.

I read your ‘diamond education’ articles to get an idea of what to look for. I was particularly intrigued with the concept of diamond fluorescence and its effects on the diamond’s appearance.

I began to look at diamonds on jamesallen.com, and I found this:

I was wondering if this is a good choice or if you would have any alternate ideas.

I got the ring last Friday. It is gorgeous! I proposed last night, and my now-fiancee absolutely loved it!

After I had ordered the ring, but before it arrived, I visited some local jewlers to get an idea of what was out there that I could have gotten with my budget. Anything with comparble size, cut, color, etc. was much more than I would have wanted to pay, and what was in my budget didn’t seem too impressive. When the ring arrived, it exceeded all of my expectations. The diamond was cleaner and had more sparkle than any of the other stones I had looked at.

Thank you so much for your help. With the money you saved me, I was able to rent a Limo and take her to a romantic dinner at a steakhouse on the river. And still have some left over to put towards the honeymoon!
